A Debit Card is Not a Credit Card
Lately Visa and MasterCard as well as many of the sub prime type financing and loan companies such as CitiFinancial and Money Mart are putting out Debit Cards that have their logo on them. These debit cards look like credit cards but they will do nothing to help increase your credit cards.
Really all these cards are is a plastic check. Whether you use them or not has no impact on your credit scores.
The problem is that many of these debit cards are marketed as credit cards. However since there is no credit extended with these offers the debit account will not appear on your credit reports, so don’t make the mistake of thinking you can use this type of card to boost your credit. Instead use your credit card and pay the full balance that you owe monthly on it to boost your credit!
