The Drawbacks
The annual fee is high. This fee skyrockets to $85 after one year of being fee free.
Duplicate cards for family are not free. Additional Gold Delta Skymiles Credit Cards cost $35 each and are subject to an $85 annual fee per card.
The miles rewards expire. You must use your Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card miles within two years or lose them.
The APR is high. The standard APR for purchases is above average for an airline reward card and not ideal for those who plan to carry a revolving balance.
The card has a high balance transfer fee. The balance transfer fee on this card is 9.99% and only for the first six months. The interest is then variable and calculated according to your credit history and rating.
The grace period is short. You only have twenty days to pay without interest.
Monthly payments are applied to purchases first. The amounts that you pay monthly are not applied to the highest interest garnering activities such as taking out a cash advance. This can get expensive.
The Return Coverage is limited. Coverage is limited to $300 per item, excluding shipping and handling, and up to a maximum of $1,000 annually per Card Account and is subject to additional Terms, Conditions and Exclusions.
Fees To Watch Out For
Late payment fee: $15 on balances up to $100; $29 on balances of $100 through $1,000; $35 on balances over $1,000
Over the Limit Fee: $30
Duplicate card fee: $35
Cash Advance Fee: 3%, $5 minimum for Express Cash transactions
To Summarize –
Gold Delta Skymiles Credit Card is an ideal card for those who prefer to fly on Delta Airlines, who like to travel a lot and can afford to pay in full each month to avoid accumulating credit card debt, as often can be the case with revolving balances and high interest rates. It is not a good card to carry a balance on or to use to take out cash advances.
