Who Is It For?
A percentage of each purchase made with the card will be donated to the Anne Geddes Philanthropic Trust for the prevention of child neglect and abuse. These donations are made at no additional cost to the cardholder. Anne Geddes Platinum Visa card holders also have the option to donate the points they earn through the reward program to the Anne Geddes Philanthropic Trust so it is a great card for those who want to have a choice about where their rewards points can go to make a difference.
The Benefits
You can put your points toward charitable causes. Cardholders receive 2,000 bonus points with their first purchase and 1,000 anniversary points each year. Points are redeemable for Anne Geddes merchandise including books, baby clothing, watches, and more.
There is no annual fee for additional Anne Geddes Platinum Visa cards. Duplicate cards are free.
The card comes with the Bank of America’s Purchase Replacement program. This feature provides for repair or replacement for covered purchases that are stolen, damaged or lost at a known location, within 90 days of the date of purchase.
The card comes with the Bank of America’s Purchase Guard. This feature may double the manufacturer’s original U.S. warranty period for covered purchases with warranty duration of 1 year or less.
Zero Liability. If you claim someone has stolen your Anne Geddes Platinum Visa card then you do not have to be liable for the usual $50 that is typically deducted as fraud liability.
The Drawbacks
The 1.9 % introductory rate is not guaranteed. If you make a late payment on any bill, not just your credit card bill, your introductory 0% rate can be replaced with the costly prime rate.
All payments you make with your Anne Geddes Platinum Visa will be applied to lower rate balances first. This makes it easy to get into debt.
The introductory rate can be cancelled at the discretion of the Bank of America. You will lose your introductory rate if you exceed your credit limit or are late with a payment or if there is a negative comment on your credit report.
Fees To Watch Out For
Late payment fee: $15 on balances up to $100; $29 on balances over $100 up to $250; $39 on balances over $250
Cash advance Fee: 3%, $10 minimum; 4%, $10 minimum, $90 maximum for cash advance checks
Over The Limit Fee: $15 on balances up to $500; $29 on balances over $500 up to $1,000; $39 on balances over $1,000
Balance Transfers: No fees on introductory balance transfers; 4%, $10 minimum, $90 maximum after the introductory period
To Summarize –
The lack of an annual fee is attractive as is the charitable nature of the Anne Geddes Platinum Visa Card. You are given the option of redeeming points directly to the charity or donating a percentage of Anne Geddes merchandise that you buy. The introductory rate which expires after a mere six months is quite high so this is not a good card to carry a balance on from month to month. You also may not get the lowest rate if your credit is not excellent.
