Can I convert the positive balance on my credit card to cash without taking out a cash advance?
Yes. Most credit card companies offer you other options besides having the amount credited to your credit card statement. By law, all you have to do to obtain a refund from your credit card company is ask for it by phone or mail and they must provide you with a check for the amount requested within seven business days.
